Collection and Disclosure of Information

McCormacks Strata Management respects the privacy of owners for which it maintains records on behalf of a Strata Scheme.

The Strata Schemes Management Act 1996 (SSM Act) authorises and in respect of some information requires a strata scheme to collect various information relating to its owners and the management of its affairs. This information is required to be retained as part of the strata scheme records. Information retained on record includes (but is not limited to) owners names, addresses, lot owned and additionally a strata scheme is required to retain a correspondence to or from the strata scheme, all accounting records, proxies, voting records, minutes and notices.

The SSM Act allows owners to authorise others to inspect the strata schemes records and this commonly occurs when a lot (unit) is being sold. Therefore in accordance with the SSM Act your personal information may be disclosed to persons inspecting the Owners Corporations records. Any owner is authorised to inspect the Owners Corporations records upon payment of a fee prescribed by regulation.

You can access, correct and update the personal information that we hold about you by contacting our office. The primary purpose of collecting of personal information is the maintenance of your strata scheme’s register facilitating the collection of levies and the provision to you of agendas, minutes and notices of meeting and any other important information that your strata scheme may wish to communicate to you.
